We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cook. This role is a pivotal part of the smooth functioning of the home, enhancing the quality of care provided. The care home is a welcoming, homely environment that is purpose designed to meet the resident’s needs holistically and enable them to live meaningful lives.
Your role will be varied and will involve communicating with the residents regularly. The care home is their home, so in your role you will need to be mindful of this and prioritize the residents and their loved ones needs, making polite conversation and building a good rapport with individuals.
You will need to participate in regular training and behave in a professional and friendly manner towards other staff and visitors, embodying the companies’ values and standards in all you do.
Salary £14.50

Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of food safety legislation.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience leading a kitchen.
  • Previous experience developing menus and budgeting.
  • Leadership skills.
  • A compassionate and empathic approach towards elderly residents and their families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and colleagues.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and infection control practices.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Menu Development: Collaborate with residents and staff to create and update nutritious menus that cater to various dietary needs and preferences.
  • Budget Management: Operate within set budgets while ensuring a diverse menu that includes seasonal produce and special occasion planning.
  • Meal Preparation: Cook nutritious meals from scratch, delegating tasks effectively to kitchen staff.
  • Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen in compliance with health, safety, food hygiene, and infection control regulations.
  • Training and Development: Participate in staff training, formal supervisions, and appraisals, promoting professional growth.
  • Complaint Management: Address and manage any kitchen-related complaints effectively.
  • Communication: Engage with residents regularly, building rapport and ensuring their needs are prioritized.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek to enhance knowledge and skills, maintaining high standards in kitchen operations.
