Contentious Probate Lawyer – NQ to 4 Years PQE
Location: Bristol
Looking to build your career in a specialist team with a strong reputation and supportive culture? This Legal 500-ranked department is offering a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Solicitor or FCILEx (0-4 years PQE) to join their growing Contentious Probate team.
You’ll be part of a collaborative group working under the wider Dispute Resolution umbrella, with access to expertise across Property Litigation, Employment, and Commercial Litigation. The team is known for handling high-value, complex trust and estate matters both contentious and non-contentious with senior lawyers who are ACTAPS members and STEP affiliates.
In this role, you’ll be supported to build your own caseload and develop your expertise across a wide range of disputes, including:
- Will and trust challenges
- Lifetime transaction disputes
- Burial and ashes disagreements
- Grant disputes
- Claims involving personal representatives
- Disappointed beneficiary claims
- Inheritance Act claims
- Professional negligence matters
You’ll advise clients, draft legal documentation, attend hearings, and ensure compliance with relevant protocols. You’ll also work closely with other departments such as Family, Court of Protection, and Probate & Estate Administration gaining exposure to a broad range of specialist issues in a learning-focused environment.
We’re looking for someone with a solid grounding in litigation or private client work, and a genuine interest in contentious trusts and probate. You’ll be organised, empathetic, and confident working both independently and as part of a busy team. ACTAPS or STEP membership is a plus, but if you’re not yet a member, a willingness to work towards it is welcomed.
This is a full-time role based in central Bristol, with part-time options considered. Hybrid working is available after probation.
