Client Details

We are seeking a capable Financial Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. The role will be based in Central Birmingham on a hybrid basis you will be responsible for the year end process.

Description

  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for the external audit
  • Review of three entities trial balance and consolidated trial balance for the group accounts.
  • Production of high quality, audit ready, draft financial statements and group financial statements
  • Management of the year-end accounts preparation and audit process
  • Well-managed year-end accounts preparation and audit process
  • A high-quality audit trail recording all assumptions, judgments and estimates made in preparing the account
  • The non-Finance team members who need to provide information for year-end and audit are well liaised with and influenced to ensure prompt delivery, using effective escalation where necessary
  • Written file and process notes that can be used in future for subsequent audits, including a robust year end timetable with clearly defined deliverables.
  • Responsible for developing an effective relationship with the external auditors.
  • Completion of auditor management letter recommendations from the 2022/23 audit, such that these are confirmed by the auditors as fully addressed in their closing report.
  • Provision of support to junior staff on the balance sheet and wider year-end accounting and audit process. Meaningful post-audit lessons learnt reviews are conducted and documented to identify areas for improvement.

Profile

A successful Financial Accountant should have:

* Strong financial accounting technical background, demonstrated by an accounting qualification

* Previous year-end accounting and audit facing experience gained in an organisation of a similar size or larger

* Ability to plan own work and the work of others effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

* Attention to detail to ensure the necessary accuracy and thoroughness of year-end work

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to digest information rapidly.

* Aptitude for working autonomously or as part of a team

* Excellent excel skills

* Strong interpersonal skills able to building trust within the Finance team, beyond it and with auditors

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly

Job Offer

  • Day rate £400 – £500 per day
  • Hybrid working – 2 days in the office
