Overview

This role is working within an already established team on a wide range of different projects across Oil/Gas/Nuclear as well as construction projects UK wide. This role will be based across a project based in Teesside and working alongside the Commercial Manager.

This client are a global contractor who focus on the Oil & Gas, Nuclear/Power, Process industry, Naval & Construction projects and renewable energy. They work on a wide range of different projects and within their different specialisms focus on a variety of different specialisms.

Description

As a Cost Engineer/Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects.

Your key duties include:

  • Overseeing and executing commercial activities as determined by the Regional Commercial & Site Management.
  • Undertaking various functions,, ranging from administrative support to assuming the role of Commercial Lead. Your specific tasks will be determined by the Regional Commercial & Site Management.
  • Providing focused support on commercial and costing matters.
  • Operating in a site based role in Teesside, as directed by the Regional Commercial Manager.

Profile

Ideally you will have:

  • A BSc in Quantity Surveying or an HND in Quantity Surveying (or another relevant degree, depending on experience).
  • Experience working in contracting commercial departments is preferred.
  • Candidates should have a working knowledge of relevant Construction and Engineering Industry conditions of contract.
  • Proficiency in using the most recent version of Microsoft Office applications relevant to the role is essential.
  • Familiarity with reading and extracting data from at least one Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Treat all stakeholders (both internal and external) with respect and consideration in all company activities.
  • Be adept at valuing interim work, final accounts, variations, and claims, understanding their impact on time, cost, and revenue.
  • Vigorously inspect and control the quality of work performed by commercial teams and other teams involved in commercial functions.
  • Be an effective and confident communicator with colleagues and stakeholders.
