Our client, a large housing developer are looking for an individual with community engagement experience to help shape and deliver the community development strategy across all of their sites but with an immediate focus on a regeneration project in central Birmingham.

Description

They are seeking an individual to take on a pivotal role in fostering and strengthening community networks, ensuring that the right people, structures, and organisations are in place to support long-term social sustainability. In this role, you will collaborate closely with key public, private, and voluntary partners to drive lasting social, economic, and environmental improvements. Your efforts will directly benefit the diverse community of this project and its surrounding areas, creating meaningful change for all.

Your role will involve:

  • Initiate, develop, and support practical projects that address the environmental, economic, and community needs of the development.
  • Create and implement Community Plans, support resident-led forums, and help empower communities to enhance their own neighbourhoods.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, community groups, local businesses, and public agencies to drive community development and regeneration strategies.
  • Promote and support projects that advance community cohesion, health and well being, sustainability, social mobility, and employment opportunities.
  • Engage with local schools and career advisors to promote construction industry careers, organising events like assemblies, talks, and apprenticeship fairs.

Profile

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have a strong background in community engagement and developing long term relationships with residents and stakeholders. It is also important that you have experience:

  • Engaging with different communities (either through work or volunteering).
  • Working with economically deprived communities.
  • Working with and/or within multicultural communities.
  • Building and sustaining effective

Ideally you will also be:

  • Innovative, resourceful, and entrepreneurial mindset in both professional and personal endeavours.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to diversity and inclusion practices.
  • Energetic, inclusive, and collaborative leadership style, fostering a supportive environment.
