Overview

The Head of Finance will spearhead the financial operations and strategy of a renowned public sector institution in Edinburgh. This pivotal role requires a candidate with a solid grounding in accounting and finance, capable of overseeing a multifaceted department.

Description

· Responsible for leading the financial accounting, financial transactions & credit control and finance systems teams (including staff management and training).

· Responsible for the planning, preparing and delivery of interim and year end audits and accounts.

· Ensure financial control is in compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax and legislation.

· Asset Management

· Report alignment with Scottish government funding categories

· Audit and Risk Committee attendance.

· National Fraud Initiative oversight

· Cash management.

· Responsible for developing and delivering the financial systems strategy and system replacement/upgrade plan.

· Assist RoS to develop and renew the long-term financial strategy.

· Governance boards attendance as required.

· Project board attendance as required.

· Delegation for CFO as required.

Profile

A successful Head of Finance should have:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA)
  • Preferably experience in a similar role within the public sector
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and standards
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

Job Offer

  • A competitive salary of £57,705 – £71,054 and wider benefits package (including civil service pension 29%).
  • A 35-hour work week with flexible working arrangements (up to 30 hours flexi per month).
