Our client is looking for a Consultant OphthalmologistOrbital, Lacrimal, and Oculoplastic; they will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with eye-related conditions. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating eye disorders, performing surgeries, prescribing medications, staying updated on advancements in the field, participating in audits and reviews, conducting employee training, ensuring compliance with quality standards, maintaining a safe work environment, and fulfilling other duties as assigned by department heads and Medical Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the strategic plan and objectives for the Department of Ophthalmology.
  • Diagnose eye disorders in its structure including the eyelids, cornea, sclera, conjunctiva, etc.
  • Treat minor and major eye trauma or injuries.
  • Prescribe ophthalmologic therapies such as cryotherapy and low-vision therapy.
  • Conduct a thorough test of the visual system to determine the severity and nature of ocular disorder.
  • Perform ophthalmic surgeries like refractive, eye muscle, cataract, glaucoma, corneal, ceroplastic, and vitro-retinal surgeries.
  • Perform laser surgeries to alter, excise, or reshape ocular tissue.
  • Design and develop treatment plans based on patient’s medical history and objectives, the severity of the disorder, and therapeutic risks and benefits.
  • Prescribe or refer to Optometrists for proper corrective lenses such as glasses and contact lenses.
  • Keep abreast with trends in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
  • Participates in audits or reviews conducted by internal auditing teams, accreditation bodies, and national healthcare committees.
  • Assumes an active role in development, optimization, and validation of new and existing services in partnership with other healthcare colleagues, business development representatives and/or project management teams.
  • Supervises overall maintenance of instruments and inventories for efficient and high-quality operations in the Ophthalmology section.
  • Maintains and upgrades knowledge by attending CPDs and courses.
  • Contributes and abides to all quality standards implemented in the organization as per internal audits and accreditation requirements.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to other departments when requested and maintain his set of clinical privileges with MOPH with Re-validation guidelines and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned/directed by the chairperson/head of the department and approved by the Medical Directors

Education requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Medicine and Surgery like MBBS, MBBCh (Essential),
  • Western Board certified in Ophthalmology and eligible for Consultant License in the State of Qatar as per MoPH criteria (Essential) at least 12 months duration from one of the Category 1 Western countries.
  • US Board/CCT in Ophthalmology or equivalent specialist training certificate (Category 1).
  • Fellowship in corneal subspecialities.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a full time Consultant Ophthalmologist position, with a minimum of 1 year experience in a government, semi- government, or a teaching hospital.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in GCC (preferred).
  • Preferably Arabic speaking candidates.

  • Education Allowance: Covers two children under the employee’s sponsorship, aged 4-18 years, residing in Qatar. The allowance is 20,000 QAR per child per year.
